Update on My Recovery
I saw Dr Waguespack, the doc that did the surgery on my wrists, last Monday. At the time she said that the pin wounds were healing well. She said that she wants to keep the pins and external fixators on me for 8 to 12 weeks, then put me in braces and start OT. She said that I am going to be out of work for at least 6 more months. I asked about being able to go back to flatbedding. She said I have a chance, but that it will take a long time, so I don’t know how much longer past the 6 months that will take right now. It really depends on how I heal and how OT goes. Thing is, yesterday I had to call her and get some antibiotics. Two of my pin sites are infected, one worse than the other. Now because of that, I have to go back to NOLA toward the end of next week for her to check on them. There is a big danger of infection getting into the bone if I can’t get it under control.
I have an appointment with an Ears, Nose and Throat doctor on the 16th. I doubt he will re-break my nose on the first visit, but I am sure that it will be done in the next few weeks. I am also talking to my WC field nurse about the scares on my face. My dad says they are not to bad, but I think they are. Course they will wait a little bit to do anything about that because of all the other stuff that is going on with my injures.
I will update everyone again in a few weeks. For now, I am trying to not go crazy just sitting around. I do have two of my boys and grand-daughter coming in for Christmas and my other boy coming down for New Years, so that should help my depression over those two weeks.
