I Have PTSD (MTV’s True Life) after airing
The episode just aired. I scarred as I was that it would not turn out to be what my son hoped it would, I am happy to say, that for his segment at least, it was. I called him as soon as it was over and asked him what he thought of it and if it got across what he wanted to say and show. He said it was good and yes it did. We both agree that we are glad that it showed 3 different stages of recovery. Each of them have a long way to go, but at least they all have asked for help….. That is the first and hardest step to make.
Adam, my best wishes to you in your project to find another way of treating PTSD. I too, agree that the Doctors are to quick to prescribe drugs. And many times those drugs don’t work. I would love to help promote what you are doing. You should be very proud of yourself. I know I am proud you!
Arther, Man don’t let the crap get ya down. You are strong and will over come this! I wish you the best of luck in getting treatment.
Kenny, my dear son, I am so very proud of you! You have come a very long way since I picked you up in Texas last February. You are getting better every day and yes, you do have a very long life ahead of you. And I know it will be a great one.
So, now everyone else, tell us what you think! Did “True Life” do a good job? Do you have a better incite of what PTSD is and how it affects our returning Troops?

The show really surprised me. This is not a criticism, but I was somewhat shocked to see your son wearing so much jewelry, earrings, dyed hair, and even mascara(?). To each his own I guess. I don’t judge others, it’s just that as a parent I think kids who are so flamboyant are crying out for a father figure. This country was founded on Christian values and for that reason I don’t support alternative lifestyles. We need to embrace the traditional values our founding fathers celebrated or else we will end up like crazy liberal towns like San Fran (the “gay bay”).

Does he have any male role models who he can learn from? This country was founded on Christian values and for that reason I don’t support alternative lifestyles. First of all, it’s called Goth….and just so you know it, I’m goth, not gay…and nor am I emo (that shit is retarded). I don’t need anymore male role models in my life, I’m a man and I am very sure that I am straight. I have expierenced more in my life time so far than you probably have. Oh, and another thing….As to what this Country was found on…is called FREEDOM…Freedom to dress, worship, live what and where ever we want…One of the biggest things this country prides itself on is individuality. There are all knids of people in the is Country and in the military THAT PROTECTS IT…So unless you know and understand someone, something, or some idea…keep your ignorant and uneducated comments to your self.
DynacorpRob,
First off, if you had used a real email address the first time, when you posted this comment as Robert, it would have shown up and you would not have had to make it twice. Course, the email address you put in with the comment that did show up isn’t real either. Seems to me that if you REALLY believed in what you were saying, you would not hide!
Now to you comment………..
He does have a father figure…his dad, who raised him while I was driving a truck over the road the last 18 years. and I believe he has done a good job with all 3 of our boys. Whereas his Dad and I are both Cristian, we do not force our beliefs on our children. We allow them to find their own way and try to guide them as best we can. Christianity can not be forced on a person, they have to accept God into their heart themselves.
My son is far from being gay! and even if he was, I would still love him, he is my son. As far as the hair, jewelry, and mascara…. I guess you have no idea what someone that is into “Goth” dresses or looks like! Yes, he may be screaming for attention, but he is an adult and can make his own mind up on how he wishes to dress. I may not really care for some of it, but this is a FREE country.
This country was found because people wanted FREEDOM. FREEDOM of religion and speech are two of the biggest. This country is a melting pot of people from all over the world with many different religions and cultures. My son and many other sons and daughters have fought for many years to keep those freedoms for all of our citizens…..including you. So even though I think you are a moron… you have the right to show how ignorant you are without my censoring it.
May God bless you and teach your heart how to have love and understanding for those that are different than you. so that you will be able to witness in a positive manner that will bring those listening to a closer understanding of God’s love, instead of in a negative manner which will close their ears and their hearts.
Hello, this is my first writing to you. Being that I am from California, I have grown up with all styles, fades and unique looking individuals. So I have seen the Goth look for many years. Its no big deal, its an easy way for others to know your lifestyle and music taste, just as some wear 5 gallon hats, Stetson’s? Wranglers, cowboy boots, that help you fall on the ice, its thier identity, not for me, but its thier FREEDOM to decide. But some people always judge people by thier looks, instead of what is going on inside. Thats about it, I was in Iraq with KBR from June of 05 thru August 07 from Anaconda to Cedar to Al Asad, but my injuries from an IED forced me home, Have a great day and thanks for a cool Website to keep me reading, God Bless, Tom
